Pushing the limits of print production, many creative designers have crafted unique packaging to give an album that “extra.” One example is the “Stand Up” album by Jethro Tull from 1969, which featured a popup die-cut rending of the band in the middle of the gatefold.
Album covers have featured sealed liquid, holographic imagery, 3D foldouts, various materials from burlap to stainless steel, and even electronic components.
