Psalm 69
ΚΕΦΑΛΗΞΘ, by Ministry. 1992. Warner Bros. Records.
This album is alternatively titled as “Psalm 69: The Way to Succeed, and the Way to Suck Eggs. Artwork and design by Paul Elledge with assistance from Thirst.
On a personal note, this is the soundtrack of my college years: I remember driving on long, wonderful road trips with great friends blasting this album at full volume. Seeing Ministry on tour for this album is still one of the greatest concerts I’ve ever been to. I’ll never forget the massive wall of Ministry’s dual drummers and three guitarists riffing “Just One Fix” which reverberated in my chest while the late beat poet William S. Burroughs’ thundering voice chanted “Break it all down.”
ΚΕΦΑΛΗΞΘ was a powerful Gen-X album that bridged the transition away from late 80’s cheese pop metal into early 90’s industrial rock (NIN, Orgy, KMFDM); alternative rock (Jane’s Addiction, Smashing Pumpkins) and Seattle rock (Soundgarden, Alice In Chains). And the music from this excellent album still holds up to this day.
