Airbrush
Visual category: Airbrush
Airbrushes can be traced all the way back to 1883. They were initially used to touch up photos, but were quickly adopted as an artistic style to create posters and murals, and to apply makeup in Hollywood. I would argue that the pinnacle of airbrush art in music reigned during the 1970s and 80s. Just like the glossy lipstick of disco and feathered hair of the early MTV videos, airbrush artists crafted many album covers that ranged from expressionist paintings to hyperrealism.
